Hamara School began in 1997 as a small, community-driven initiative led by students of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), along with teachers and local residents, with a shared vision to make education accessible for every child.
During a survey in Mallah Ka Nagla, Aligarh, they discovered that many children from underprivileged families were unable to attend school due to poverty and lack of basic resources.
Since its informal establishment in 1997, Hamara School has supported hundreds of children through free education programs.
A closer look at how Hamara School is changing lives through education.
What started as an effort to help a few children soon grew into a larger mission. Over time, this initiative evolved into a structured organization, leading to the formation of the Society for Human Welfare and Education.
Hamara School was then established to provide free education, along with textbooks and essential learning materials. To ensure that no child is forced into child labour due to financial hardship, the school also supports students’ families with essential rations removing the economic burden that often keeps children out of classrooms.
Hamara School collaborates with organizations and partners who support the mission of expanding educational access.
