Hamara School

Transforming Lives Through Education Since 1997

Hamara school was established in 1997 with a strong commitment to improving the lives of underprivileged children through education. The initiative began when a group of young doctors from Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, Aligarh, noticed children working in tea stalls, cycle repair shops, and other small establishments around the campus. These children, mostly from nearby urban slum areas, came from challenging backgrounds with very limited access to education and opportunities.

Rather than ignoring the situation, the group decided to take action. They conducted a survey in Malla ka Nagla, where many of these children lived, and identified a serious lack of both formal and informal education. They started by offering evening tuition classes at a local mosque, with the goal of helping these children transition into mainstream government schools.

Despite facing challenges such as high dropout rates, lack of parental support, and financial constraints, their determination remained strong. Over time, the initiative developed into a structured organisation, registered under the Society Registration Act (1980) as the Society for Human Welfare and Education.

Today, the school stands as a testament to their vision, supported by donors who have contributed towards scholarships, infrastructure, and the overall development of students and their families.

Our School / Centre Expansion

With the valuable support and intervention of Mr. Ameer Ahmad Manappat, the year 2016 marked a major turning point for Hamara School. We began expanding our work by opening new branches in different locations, with the aim of bringing education closer to children in underserved communities. Each new branch helped us reach more families, while we continued to work closely with local communities to understand and meet their educational needs.

Hamara School is a 100% funded program that operates all its centres and schools through external support and donations. This support helps us continue free education and related services for children in need.

What is Hamara School and when was it established?

Hamara School is a non-profit educational initiative established in 1997 in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh. It was founded by a group of young doctors from Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College who aimed to provide quality education and better opportunities to underprivileged children from underserved communities. Today, Hamara School operates multiple centres dedicated to empowering children through free education and holistic development.

Hamara School was founded after its founders observed many children working in tea stalls, repair shops, and other informal workplaces instead of attending school. Recognising the lack of educational opportunities in nearby urban slum communities, they began providing evening tuition classes to help children transition into mainstream education and build a brighter future.

Yes. Hamara School operates under the Society for Human Welfare and Education, a legally registered organisation. The institution holds important certifications and registrations, including FCRA Registration, 12A Registration, 80G Registration, Minority Certificate, and Madrasa Affiliation Certificate, ensuring transparency, accountability, and regulatory compliance.

Hamara School is a 100% donor-funded educational programme. All schools, learning centres, scholarships, infrastructure development projects, and student welfare initiatives are supported through donations and partnerships from individuals, organisations, and well-wishers committed to improving educational access for children in need.

Since its establishment, Hamara School has grown from a small community-based educational initiative into a multi-centre organisation. A significant expansion began in 2016, enabling the opening of new branches in underserved areas. This growth has helped the organisation reach more children and families while continuing its mission of providing free, quality education and community support.
